5.0 out of 5 stars Retired My JVC Gumies For These, July 4, 2010
Note: These have an excellent, no-hassle warranty. Skullcandy will replace them for any reason, whenever - just go to their website, register your product, and fill out the warranty form. You will receive CREDIT for their website that you can use on whatever you like, as well as free shipping. The amount of credit will depend upon the current price of your product on THEIR website - so for the standard INK'D buds, you will get a $20 credit. You do not need any proof of purchase, and it does not matter how much time has passed - just pop the broken buds into a small envelope and you're good.

Firstly, I want to mention a few important tidbits that you should know.

1. Pay attention to the L and R (engraved on the stem) on these earbuds, which can be hard to see. Do not reverse them, as doing so can affect fit and sound quality.

2. Don't assume you know which gel size will fit you best; make sure you try on all 3 gel sizes that come with these,... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price, July 7, 2010
Purchased the headphones about a week ago and I'm very pleased. I previously had the JVC Marshmallows and loved those headphones, but one of the earbud sleeves came off and the new JVC's are designed differently so I decided to give these a try. They produce very clear sound with solid bass. I was also surprised by the fit on the silicon caps that come with these. I have a difficult time finding silicon caps that will stay in my ear so I usually stick to foam, but these headphones came with three different sizes of caps and the smallest size fits and stays in without a problem. I will also say that I bought the Comply Foam Tips recently and am currently using those on these headphones (since I already had them) but once these wear out then I will stick with the silicon tips that came with these headphones because they will probably last longer. All in all, great purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value, great sound!, July 1, 2010
I purchased my Skullcandy Ink'd ear buds almost two years ago, and now that I need to lay them to rest I thought I would write a review on them.

First off, don't think that they are cheaply made because mine broke. From what I have been reading, two years is a good deal of time to have working headphones, especially at the low price of under 20 bucks! If I have to say, I provably contributed to the heavy wear of the jack that plugs into my computer (it is in the front of my laptop, so when the computer slides close to my lap the jack gets pinched).

Construction:
--
Being my first pair of non-stock earphones, I don't really have much to say in terms of construction, but as previously mentioned they lasted a helluva long time, so that should carry some weight. Speaking of weight, these buds feel light, but not so much that they feel cheap. Even after a couple of years the wires are intact, and I have had no problems with them up until a couple days... 5.0 out of 5 stars Good mid-range cans, November 10, 2009

Tacitus "Cyclist" (Worcester, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sennheiser HD428 Closed Circumaural Hi-Fi Headphone (Electronics)
I've been pretty displeased with the sounds coming out of my lower-range headphones and picked this up at the local big box store. Most people will recommend the Sennheiser 280's on Amazon, which are about the same price, and apparently do a better job.

Not having the other pair I can heartily recommend this set. Build quality seems quite good (all plastic construction), and it's extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time. There's a nice foam padding for the ear cups and a nice foam padding where it rests on your head. The cord should be long enough for most activities, and it includes a stereo adapter as well.

For sound quality, these are 'closed cans' and don't really suffer from the tin can effect of some other similar headphones. Additionally, because it's basically sealing out the outside world, there's very little 'leakage' both in and out of the headphones. This has the positive effect of not annoying your neighbors at the library, and of... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A great buy, May 6, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Sennheiser HD428 Closed Circumaural Hi-Fi Headphone (Electronics)
I bought the used (refurbished at the factory) Sennheiser HD428 Around the Ear Headphones. It was my best buy of the year. For $19.00 I got what seems to be a new set of headphones. And they sound great. I put on a recording of an opera and almost started to cry, it sounded so good.

I am used to Audio Technica ATH-A700 headphones, which I like. But I have to say these sounded even better. They have a very smooth sound. The only thing I think they are a little weak in is comfort, as the Audio Technica cans are astoundingly comfortable. The Sennheiser HD428s are not quite as comfortable, so I don't wear them for countless hours like I do my other headphones.

If you are considering buying the used, refurbished model of Sennheisers which I found available on Amazon, don't hesitate.

4.0 out of 5 stars These make excellent travel headphones., April 30, 2010
This review is from: Sennheiser HD428 Closed Circumaural Hi-Fi Headphone (Electronics)
Knowing nothing about headphones at first but wanting to learn through experience, I picked up a set of HD-428's and set of Sony MDR-NC60's costing about 3x what the Senn's cost. Went on vacation for a week and alternated between both to get an idea how they were (the audition).

At first, I was more impressed with the Sony's - they had noise cancellation which I didn't bother to use, but their tonality was softer and more balanced then the Senn's (using an Ipod and a Nintendo DS). When I got home however and plugged both into a decent receiver, I was shocked at how limp the Sony's were compared to the Senn's which really started to perform. The Sony's went back to the big box store after that.

As far as these go -

1) They need some time to break in. Out of the box they sound shrill and bass heavy, but proper break in smooths out the high end (maybe 20-50 hours, I don't remember... but these sound better the more you use them)... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally Audiophile Wireless Headphones, February 6, 2010
By
HA Hacky (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sennheiser RS 180 Digital Wireless Headphone System (Electronics)
Wow, I have been waiting literally years for a quality set of wireless headphones. I listened to many including the previous generation of Sennheiser's. All of them had some low level of hiss and less than audiophile sound quality. The wait is over. These cans utilize Kleer technology and an open design. I always preferred open headphones for the more natural bass response and to my 50 year old ears these sound great. The headphones are comfortable though I would like a bit more padding spanning the entire headband. The buttons on the headphones that control power, volume and balance (handy if you have asymmetrical hearing deficits) are too small and flat but I can now control the volume without removing the headphones. The range is listed as being up to 100 meters and practically speaking, as I can walk on either floor of my house and even outside in my yard without any noticeable effect. Every 30-40 minutes I may get a brief 1 second or so loss of sound but it is infrequent enough... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply excellent, March 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Sennheiser RS 180 Digital Wireless Headphone System (Electronics)
I bought and returned two other pairs of wireless headphones in the sub-$200 price range before springing for these, and simply put they are worth the extra money. There's no interference, the sound quality is excellent throughout the range (bass, mids, highs) and the hiss that plagues most other wireless headphones doesn't exist. Range is also excellent. The only thing to note is that the base station does not have optical audio input, only a standard 1/8th jack.

5.0 out of 5 stars WORTH THE MONEY!, February 20, 2010
By
This review is from: Sennheiser RS 180 Digital Wireless Headphone System (Electronics)
I have used the Sennheiser RS-130 for the past 4 years, and the surround sound was incredible and delicious, but I was looking for an upgrade, the next generation from a high quality manufacturer. My main uses are for blu-ray movies and late night TV viewing as to not disturb any neighbors, plus it's an intimate experience without any street noise. When I decided on the RS-180 I bought it from J & R because their customer service is outstanding. The DVD product guide estimated an initial charge of up to 16 hours, but mine was ready for blastoff in about 7. I was immediately blown away, swept into a cinematic oasis, a sound panorama that disintegrated any assumptions about how a movie should leave a lasting impression! They are exceptionally comfortable and well worth the price, and you will not be disappointed!!! Without a sound system hooked up to my Samsung 1920 X 1080 HD-LCD TV, I realize now I haven't totally appreciated the blu-ray player and movies until this wireless headphone... Read more
