I love my UE triple-fi's especially when I need isolation, but I also love a good pair of earbuds for their open sound and easy portability. There haven't been too many really good earbuds. The first pair I ever tried that I really was bowled over by was the Yuin PK-1's. Problem was they were difficult to drive and I ended up buying an iBasso t3 mini amp to get some volume out of them. Kind of defeated the purpose of portability, so originally I thought I'd be sacrificing a lot when I went from the PK-1's to the PK-3's. Turns out that they were a pleasant surprise, provided great volume and had an overall great sound. The Yuin's are getting a bit long in the tooth as far as being the latest in sound technology, so it was only when I read that Sennheiser was bringing out a line of earbuds ( the MX580's, MX880's and MX980's ) that not only could match Yuin, but also improve on the sound. Since my objective was to find out if this was true, I thought I'd start with the entry level... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Headphones!, September 9, 2010

I thought these were the silicone in-ear style earbuds when I bought them, my mistake - they do not seal, just sit in your ear like older style conventional buds. That said though they deliver great sound, as loud as you like. The volume control is as good as any of this type - I am not a huge fan of the slider mechanisms, because they are extremely sensitive to the smallest move, but they are all like this.

Would recommend these to someone who doesn't like the sealing ear buds. I will use these until I ruin them, as they are good earphones, but I will likely replace them with the sealing type ear buds, to block out the annoying aerobics instructor at my gym!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not too shabby, September 23, 2010

I am terrible with ear buds. I lose them, I manage to fray cords, or they just plain don't fit in my ears. The Sennheiser's so far are really nice ear bud headphones. They're a little large and so hurt if they're in my ears for more than a couple of hours, but since that doesn't happen they're wonderful (it also helps to put the padded covers on them). The sound output is wonderful, and has made me realize I need to burn my music at a higher quality - with other headphones I didn't notice. The volume control on the cord is also really nice, especially if I need to quickly turn down my music and don't have time to dig my iPod out of my purse.
